JIMMY JOHNSON RECEIVES 2015 PAUL “BEAR” BRYANT LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The American Heart Association’s 29th annual Paul “Bear” Bryant Awards presented by Marathon Oil Corporation, announced that Jimmy Johnson, one of the most respected and accomplished football coaches in NCAA and NFL history, will be named the recipient of the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented to Johnson at the event on Jan. 14 in Houston.

There is no doubt that Johnson made a name for himself in the coaching world of football. His successful career spans an impressive range of coaching experience not only in the NCAA but also in the NFL, taking over for renowned coaches and becoming one of only three men to win an NCAA championship and a Super Bowl.

Johnson gained significant experience as an assistant coach for multiple colleges acquiring more responsibility with each position. After a solid five year stint as Oklahoma State's head coach, his head coaching career truly took off when he landed the same position at the University of Miami. His record from 1984 through 1988 was an astonishing 52-9, including a four year regular season record of 42-2 from 1985 through 1988.

Furthermore, as the no holds barred leader of a brash group of Hurricanes, he led Miami to the 1987 national championship. From 1989 to 1993, he proved his title as head coach for the Dallas Cowboys as he coached his team to win two back-to-back Super Bowls. His final coaching stint was taking over for Don Shula in 1996 to coach the Miami Dolphins where his team went to the playoffs three out of four seasons.

First awarded in 2000, the Paul “Bear” Bryant Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes the career accomplishments of the nation’s finest college football coaches. Among the past recipients of this award are R.C. Slocum (2014), LaVell Edwards (2013) and Hayden Fry (2012).

While the Lifetime Achievement Award highlights the achievements throughout a coach’s career, the Coach of the Year award, which is presented after each season’s bowl games, provides an opportunity to recognize a coach for an outstanding season. Finalists will be in attendance at the event along with Johnson to accept awards.

The American Heart Association’s Paul “Bear” Bryant Awards presented by Marathon Oil Corporation has raised over $5 million in the past 28 years to fund research, advocacy and educational programs across the country that are necessary for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease and stroke. “Bear” Bryant died of a heart attack in 1983. He always talked about being bigger than something other than himself. The Bryant Awards offer an opportunity to do just that - to be a part of team Bryant in the fight against heart disease and stroke.

FOX SPORTS HONORS MILITARY SERVICE WITH VETERANS DAY TRIBUTES

Salute to Service Includes Sunday Remote from Fort Benning, Tuesday Troop Visit to FOX SPORTS LIVE, Specialized Programming Block, Military-Themed Features and Public Service Announcements

New York - With Tuesday, Nov. 11, marking the annual Veterans Day holiday in the United States, FOX Sports’ charitable arm, FOX Sports Supports, is delivering a number of production elements across the NFL on FOX, FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports Regional Networks as part of a tribute to the men and women who have and continue to bravely serve in our nation’s armed forces.

Yesterday, FOX NFL KICKOFF on FOX Sports 1 and FOX NFL SUNDAY began the Veterans Day tribute with live coverage from Fort Benning, Ga. Jay Glazer and Jenny Taft visited with soldiers and Gold Star Pin family members, interviewing them for segments of the pregame shows.

On Veterans Day, the schedule is highlighted by approximately 100 active and reserve military personnel coming to FOX’s Los Angeles production studio for a lot tour and dinner. The troops will then be escorted to the set of FOX SPORTS LIVE, where they will appear on-air throughout the show, in appreciation for their continued service and sacrifice.

A special feature piece is slated to air during both AMERICA’S PREGAME and FOX SPORTS LIVE on Tuesday, taking a deeper look at the relationship between veterans and the game of football across all levels of the sport. Several men and women have returned from active duty to play and coach the game in their local communities, helping to accelerate their acclimation back to civilian lifestyle. The organization Got Your 6 assisted in identifying some of the best and brightest veterans involved with the game, and the feature is headlined by Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad offensive lineman Alejandro Villanueva. Villanueva is a graduate of West Point who served three tours in Afghanistan and was the recipient of a Bronze Star for heroism in a combat zone.

Tuesday’s special programming block begins at 7:00 PM ET with DRIVEN Brian Stann: All American, profiling the former Marine, Iraq War veteran and Silver Star recipient, mixed-martial artist and current UFC on FOX analyst’s journey through life. At 8:00 PM ET, the network airs Best Ranger Competition – 2014, an hour-long documentary chronicling a 60-hour test of body and mind to crown the toughest tandem of soldiers in one of the military's most elite units. The final piece of the military-themed programming block will be the re-air of a Memorial Day Golden Boy Boxing card that was held May 26, 2014 live from Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas.

Other production elements for Veterans Day include custom public service announcements featuring FOX Sports talent, expressing appreciation and support for those enlisted, past and present. Talent includes Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan, Jimmy Johnson, Molly McGrath and Karyn Bryant. Additionally, service veterans Mike Hill (served in the Air Force) and Stann (Marines) also appear in PSAs.

Patriotic-themed logos and graphic elements for both FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2 will also be a visible part of Tuesday’s programming.

FOX Sports Regional Networks will air five new “Warriors Among Us” Veterans Day vignettes. A special “Warriors Among Us” feature called “Letters” gives a personal account of the military service, sacrifice, and the salvation found in sports. The first installment is a letter from Sgt. 1st Class Joe Bowser, a warrior, amputee, Red Wings fan and member of the U.S. Warrior Hockey team.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF AMERICA HONORS FOX SPORTS AT ANNUAL GREAT FUTURES GALA

Los Angeles, Calif. (Nov. 3, 2014) – Boys & Girls Clubs of America will honor FOX Sports with the Champion of Youth Award at their annual Great Futures Gala on Wednesday, November 5th at The Beverly Hilton Hotel, Beverly Hills. Eric Shanks, president, COO and executive producer of FOX Sports and BGCA Trustee will accept the award. FOX Sports announcers Joe Buck and Erin Andrews will co-host, while platinum award-winning recording artists Sister Sledge will perform. Andrew Tennenbaum and Tim Wennes are co-chairing the event.

FOX Sports’ history with Boys & Girls Clubs dates back to 2008 through their FOX Sports Supports charitable initiative, an industry leader in raising awareness for worthwhile causes. Focusing its national and local resources on campaigns that span all FOX Sports assets and premier events, they have offered a wide scope of support for Boys & Girls Clubs, ranging from providing scholarships to hosting events at the 21st Century FOX Studios, sponsoring Great Futures Galas, producing PSA announcements and informational videos, providing game tickets and donating much needed supplies. FOX Sports also works closely with Major League Baseball and their commitment to the Boys & Girls Clubs by showcasing their efforts during the baseball postseason.

On the local level, FOX Sports Regional Networks in Detroit, Wisconsin, Minneapolis and Phoenix have been key partners of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. FOX Sports Detroit contributes an average of $100k annually to their local club partners and hosts their office’s favorite event called Summer Camp Kickoff where talent and employees come out to spend the day with club members, play games and win prizes.

FOX Sports Wisconsin put a whole new spin on girl power as they hosted a panel discussion at Miller Park with female club members to learn about what it takes to be successful as a female in sports called “Year of the Girl.”

FOX Sports North, in its 7th year as a BGCA partner hosts a number of fundraising events but none quite as powerful as their hand in founding “Hometown Team Scholarship” as they award a deserving club member each year with a 4 year academic scholarship. Eric Shanks, who has been responsible for securing significant financial support and lending valuable media assets to bring greater awareness to the Boys & Girls Clubs movement, was inducted into the Boys & Girls Clubs Alumni Hall of Fame this year and he has served as a National Trustee since 2007.

A highlight of the evening will be the introduction of two Boys & Girls Clubs Youth of the Year, Kiana Knolland and Nichole Martens, who will talk about how their lives have been shaped and impacted by the Boys & Girls Clubs.

The evening will also include a live auction featuring a trip to Turtle Island, Fiji and an Ultimate U.S. Open Weekend at Chambers Bay, complete with airfare, accommodations and a meet and greet with Buck and golf legend Greg Norman who will call the 2015 U.S. Open for FOX Sports. Guests will also be able to enjoy an up close and personal look at Kyle Busch’s M&M NASCAR #18 car as well as Cleatus, the FOX Sports robot.
