FOX SPORTS SUPPORTS ANNOUNCES 2013 CHARITY PARTNERS
Feeding America, Johns Hopkins Medicine & STOMP Out Bullying
Selected for Year-Long Campaigns
Los Angeles – FOX Sports Supports, FOX Sports Media Group's charitable initiative is proud and excited to announce that it is partnering with Johns Hopkins Medicine, STOMP Out Bullying and Feeding America in 2013 in a newly structured program intended to maximize exposure and awareness for each organization.
In December, FSMG employees were asked to choose their top charities from three categories representing human services, health and education, all important social issues and Feeding America, Johns Hopkins Medicine and STOMP Out Bullying came out on top.
FSMG focuses all of its resources toward the three charities this year in campaigns that span all of FSMG's sports properties, premier events and assets beginning with the Daytona 500 this Sunday and culminating with the 2014 Super Bowl in New York/New Jersey.
Feeding America, the charity representing human services, is the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity. Its mission is to feed America's hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and to engage Americans in the fight to end hunger.Johns Hopkins Medicine, selected from the health category, conducts extensive research into the causes of autoimmune diseases including multiple sclerosis, lupus, arthritis and myositis, and develops new treatments to provide short and long-term relief. STOMP out Bullying, this year's education charity, is the nation's most revered anti-bullying and cyber-bullying organization for kids and teens. Its goal is to teach effective solutions on how to respond to all forms of bullying, including hatred, racism and homophobia, as well as to educate kids and teens in school and online, providing help for those in need and at risk of suicide.
In the past, charities selected and assigned to one of FOX Sports' core properties were limited to the length of that season and were supported by public service announcements featuring FOX personalities assigned to that sport. This year's PSAs air across all FSMG channels and properties and feature a blend of FOX Sports personalities mixing the likes of Terry Bradshaw, Michael Strahan, Darrell Waltrip, Howie Long, Erin Andrews, Tim McCarver and Troy Aikman among others. In this way all three charities benefit from exposure to millions of viewers of NASCAR, MLB, UFC, NFL, college football, as well as the NHL, NBA and college basketball on the FOX Sports regional networks. FOX Sports Supports has become the industry leader in raising awareness for worthwhile causes. In the last five years, it has supported 21 charities overall, from helping kids with cancer to assisting military personnel and their families. Through public service announcements, verbal and graphic in-game and/or pregame mentions, FSMG has successfully raised awareness for worthy charities helping to generate over $4 million in donations. In addition, the PSAs have received tens of millions of dollars' worth of air time across all News Corporation channels helping to support causes such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Stand Up to Cancer, Boys and Girls Club of America, City of Hope, Malaria No More and Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
